Keeping Children Safe Within Families

Academic Aftercare Projects

At St. Anthony?s we aim to capacitate and prepare our young people for success in life after they leave us. In the case of two of our ex-St. Anthonians we have really had to go the „extra mile? to ensure this.

Xolani and Smanga stayed at St. Anthony?s until they were 18 years old, by which time it had not been possible to successfully reunify them with a family. They were both keen to further their education at a Technical College where they would be able to develop skills in a trade and capacitate themselves to gain future employment. St. Anthony?s assisted them in achieving this dream...

Xolani stays with a foster family in Ezakheni where he attends Nambiti FET College and is now in his 3rd and final year studying Electrical Engineering. Smanga also stays with a local host family in Madadeni where he attends Amajuba FET College and is currently in his 2nd year of a Plumbing qualification.

Both young men have been assisted through the St. Anthony?s Academic Aftercare Project which aims to ensure that young people are provided with the skills necessary to succeed in securing future employment amidst the difficult current economic climate. We hope to offer this service to more young people whose circumstances require that we assist them further in being capacitated for their future. This is only possible thanks to our donors whose generosity is of immense benefit to young people like Xolani and Smanga.
